Constantinos Kokkinoplitis holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and a MSc in Materials Science in Engineering from the University of Manitoba, Canada.
Immediately after his graduate studies he begins his professional career as a research engineer and consulting expert and after a few years as QC and plant engineer, he overtakes the position of RD director of the multinational company BiC in Athens Greece, heading a team of highly qualified Scientists and Engineers for the design and the development of innovative manufacturing products and processes.
His successful career course goes on to continue with positions of high responsibility in the public sector. As Head of the Management Authority for Interreg programmes he is exposed to an extensive multinational and multicultural environment while managing 13 Operational multi country participating programmes, of a total budget exceeding 1 billion Euros.
He goes on to other positions as Task Force coordinator for setting up the monitoring and control systems for managing the structural funds in Greece, up to the management of a budget exceeding 3,2 bn € as Head of the Managing authority of programme ‘Competitiveness & Entrepreneurship’, through funding schemes and state aid actions aiming at improving Competitiveness, entrepreneurship and extroversion of the Greek economy.
Later on and as the General Secretary of Research and Technology at the Ministry of Education and Lifelong learning his responsibilities involve policy development and implementation in the areas of Research, Technology and Innovation, as key-factors for restructuring of the Greek economy and transition to the Knowledge Economy. He is also responsible for improving the capacity and extroversion of Greek Higher Education Institutes, the Research centres and initiatives to enhance the private R&D system, while supervising 13 research centres, the IP Organization and other technological companies.
For the past two years he is the founder and owner of RISE co, consulting private and public bodies in the areas of Research and Innovation.
